Report
Maya Weug was a firm fixture at the top of the timesheets around the Circuit Zandvoort, setting the fastest time of the in-season test.
The Ferrari driver didn’t wait long to stake her claim. Posting an unbeatable 1:36.789 during the first hour of the morning’s running, the #64 MP Motorsport car wound up over two tenths clear of Chloe Chambers and Alisha Palmowski.
Despite the stop-start nature of the afternoon session, Weug’s form continued, setting a 1:37.389 on her final attempt to pip Lloyd to the fastest lap by 0.093s.
MORNING
Ella Lloyd got the final day up and running, kicking off her Qualifying simulations with a 1:45.405. The top spot rapidly changed hands with Alba Larsen, Aurelia Nobels and Chloe Chong exchanging fastest laps, as the Charlotte Tilbury driver posted a 1:39.920 inside the opening 10 minutes.
The early benchmark time continued to drop as Chloe Chambers’ back-to-back personal bests were then beaten out by a 1:38.136 from Day 1 pacesetter Alisha Palmowski.
Maya Weug then rocketed to the top of the timesheets, posting a 1:37.601 around her home track. Palmowski joined the Ferrari driver inside the 1:37s, albeit two tenths back.
As the end of the first hour drew in, Weug widened her advantage out front by six tenths, thanks to a 1:36.789. Lloyd slotted into second until Palmowski managed to reduce the deficit down to 0.320s, as Chambers followed in close behind.
As teams turned their attentions towards race simulations, Emma Felbermayr brought out a brief Red Flag after the Kick Sauber driver kicked up gravel on to the track at Turn 13.
Following the clean-up, Pin hit the barrier at Turn 3, necessitating another interruption to the session. Running resumed with less than 30 minutes left on the clock. However, Weug’s earlier effort would remain untouched as the only sub-1:37s time, with Chambers closing to within 0.212s of the Dutch racer and Palmowski in third, a tenth behind her teammate.
Rookies Lloyd and Ferreira rounded out the top five, ahead of Pin, Chong and Hausmann. Tommy Hilfiger rookie Alba Larsen finished in ninth, followed by Lia Block in 10th for Williams.
AFTERNOON
Block was the first to hit the track after lunch, with the American setting the early benchmark at 1:39.182. Her progress was quickly curtailed as Block went deep into the gravel trap at Turn 3, triggering the Red Flag after less than 20 minutes of running.
Times filtered through following the restart as Lloyd moved to the top on a 1:38.339. Weug soon picked up where she left off from the morning session, posting a 1:38.005. Clocking in five consecutive personal bests, she slashed the time to beat down to a 1:37.494.
Block split the MP Motorsport teammates of Weug and Larsen, only 0.039s off the pace in second. The Red Flags were waved twice in the middle of the second hour. Firstly, Ferreira hit the guardrail at Turn 9 in the #18 Racing Bulls car, followed by Chong finding the gravel trap at Turn 8.
Running got back underway and Lloyd narrowly seized the top spot, going 0.012s quicker on a 1:37.482. It wasn’t long before the fourth and fifth Red Flag stoppages in the final hour of the afternoon, the first of which followed Aiva Anagnostiadis’ crash on the exit of Turn 3.
Weug had time for one final lap, reinstating her hold on the P1 spot with a 1:37.389 before Courtney Crone found the barrier at Turn 3, bringing out the Red Flags in the final 10 minutes of running.
With the session not being restarted, Weug sealed the clean sweep by 0.093s ahead of Lloyd. Block closed out the top three ahead of Palmowski, Larsen and Chambers. Chong, Nobels and Pin followed in eighth, ninth and 10th places respectively.
That brings the two days of in-season testing to an end, but the drivers will be back in action at the Circuit Zandvoort for Round 5 of the 2025 F1 ACADEMY season from August 29-31.
