Interview
PREMA Racing Team Principal René Rosin and Team Manager Goffredo Pirro applauded the Italian squad’s unified efforts after they secured both the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles in Las Vegas.
Doriane Pin’s fifth place finish in Race 2 was enough to secure the title by 15 points over rival Maya Weug, while the Mercedes driver’s victory alongside Nina Gademan’s podium in Race 1 were enough for PREMA to retain the Teams’ honours for the third consecutive season.
As celebrations ensued, both Rosin and Pirro were full of pride as they reflected on Pin’s triumph — their second Drivers’ title in F1 ACADEMY following Marta García in 2023.
“It is the end of the journey that we started last year together,” began Rosin. “That was the goal of this year. We were planning those things (for) quite a while, working very hard with her. All the team did an amazing job, so it’s the end of a great result and a great season.”
Pirro added: “Satisfaction first of all. We all did a good job from the drivers, the engineers, the team, the media and René. Everyone put everything together and to know that what we did worked gives you the greatest satisfaction possible.”
Yet it was far from plain sailing in either battle. While Weug outscored Pin in Zandvoort and Singapore to force them into a title-deciding season finale, PREMA faced stiff competition from Campos Racing and MP Motorsport from the get-go.
Sitting third in the Standings until Round 4 in Montreal, PREMA managed to deliver stronger weekends across their trio of Pin, Gademan and Aston Martin’s Tina Hausmann. In Canada alone, the Italian squad scored 90 points to Campos’ 43 and MP’s 28.
Taking their podium tally up to 12 in Las Vegas, they went on to secured the Teams’ title by 60 points — their largest points margin across the three campaigns.
Relishing their undefeated status, both praised their squad and the magnitude of what they’d accomplished.
“We were talking about it before. We were thinking of not entering next year so that we can just keep our perfect record,” joked Pirro.” Jokes aside, the Teams’ title is very important. Obviously, the Drivers’ title is the more visible one.
“But for us as a team, the Teams’ title is critical to showing that we’re doing a consistent job across all the cars and that we’re helping all the drivers equally, which has always been a staple of PREMA throughout the years. It’s the cherry on the cake.”
“It’s something that we are really proud of,” added Rosin. “Of course we work to win the Drivers’ title, but the Teams’ title is really the result of all the teamwork — all three drivers working as one team trying to achieve the best result possible.
“I give extra credit to everyone from the team management to all the engineers and mechanics together with the drivers, to be able to bring home that for the third time in a row.”
Although most people would be looking forward to the Christmas break, the team’s thoughts have already turned to the next campaign. As Pin and Hausmann depart from the series at the end of their two-season stint and PREMA welcome Mathilda Paatz, the team bosses are determined keep both titles firmly in their clutches.
“That for sure is the goal,” said Rosin. “We always try to do the best job as possible. From tomorrow, we start working on 2026. Now it's time to celebrate a bit tonight. Not too much because tomorrow we have the flight! From tomorrow we’re starting the preparation for next year.”
