Marta García put down a marker for her series rivals in yesterday's Free Practice sessions at Monza as she set the fastest lap time overall ahead of this morning's Qualifying sessions.

The Series leader was driving at the Italian track for the first time in her career, but she enjoyed the pace of the circuit:

“It was my first time here in Monza. I didn’t know the track at all, but I enjoyed it quite a lot. You have a lot of time to think as there are so many straights so you can make sure you do a corner properly. I am happy with the P1 – we know how the car works with the new tyres for today and we have to just keep improving.”

Despite leading since Race 1 in Round 1 at Spielberg, García has been steady caught by MP Motorsport’s Hamda Al Qubaisi, who has scored more than the Spaniard in two of the last three rounds. The PREMA Racing driver however is focused on the task at hand, and does not think about her title challenger.

“We are focused first on the qualifying, with the aim to be on the front two because at Monza you can overtake quite a lot and have a lot of tows and slipstream. It will be a fun race and I want to take as many points as possible for the Series.

“I don’t think about my title rivals. When I drive I just focus on driving. If you focus on the work and just do it, the results will come. I try not to put much pressure on myself, I know I can do well and have the potential to be there."
