Following the conclusion of the F1 ACADEMY Opening Race in Montreal, Rachel Robertson and Payton Westcott have been handed time penalties.

Firstly, Robertson was found to have caused a collision with Natalia Granada at Turn 2. When approaching the corner, Robertson was boxed behind Granada with Autumn Fisher to her left and attempted to drive on to the kerb to avoid a collision but instead hit the Sephora driver.

The Stewards determined that although Robertson did not intend to make contact, she misjudged the negotiation of the corner and issued her a five-second time penalty. This demotes the Briton down from P11 to P13, promoting Autumn Fisher and Jade Jacquet up one place each.

Secondly, Westcott has been awarded a five-second time penalty for failing to comply with the in-race penalty procedure. After pitting due to an overheating issue caused by debris, her PREMA Racing team failed to wait the five-seconds required to serve her in-race penalty before beginning to work on her car.

The Stewards determined that while neither the Mercedes driver or her team intentionally chose not to serve the penalty, the oversight breached the regulations and Westcott was issued with a five-second penalty. After the penalty is applied, Westcott remains classified in P16.
