Campos Racing’s Lola Lovinfosse feels like a points finish was on offer in Race 2 if she had just had a few more laps to chase down P8.

The French driver was starting in P15 after not setting a lap time in Q1, but this did not stop her navigating her way through the field up to P9. Lovinfosse explained a tricky opening stint:

“I had a tough start with a lot of wheel spin and I had to avoid the car right in front of me that stalled, then I tried to manage the first corners, overtaking as much as I could.

“I was stuck behind Carrie (Schreiner) for many laps, but I took advantage of a mistake and overtook in T1. I lost my tight mirror so I couldn’t see anything anymore, but the pace was really good! I think I was around three or four tenths quicker than everyone at the end and if I had a few more laps, I would have definitely been in the points.”

A challenge all drivers have had to focus on in Barcelona is tyre degradation, with many citing it as their main learning of the weekend. Ahead of tomorrow’s race, Lovinfosse spoke of the valuable experience she has gained in Barcelona:

“Tyre degradation management is something I was struggling with but now I have found some tips to manage it and to keep the tyres in a good way until the end. That’s where I found the pace for the last laps.”

As for her strategy this morning, where she starts in P10, the Campos driver kept her cards close to her chest: “My strategy today – it’s a secret!”
